Ferrell (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
A knee injury has kept Ferrell off the field for three games this season, but he was able to return for Week 6 against the Ravens. He was a limited participant in practice all week, and while he is unlikely to be 100 percent, he will suit up for Sunday's contest. Ferrell has logged eight tackles (five solo), including 2.0 sacks, over three regular-season games.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2021
2020
2019
The 2019 fourth-overall pick didn't start a single game and ultimately played a career-low 248 defensive snaps in 16 contests last season, foreshadowing his fifth-year option being declined by the Raiders' new front office this offseason. In what could be his final campaign as a Raider, Ferrell is slated to provide depth at defensive end behind Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones in 2022.
Ferrell's 27 tackles (18 solo) and two sacks in 11 games last season have the 2019 fourth-overall pick approaching bust status if he's not there already, but the Clemson product will continue to compete with Maxx Crosby for reps at defensive end across from free-agent signee Yannick Ngakoue. Ferrell began training camp working with the second-team defense, so Crosby looks primed to retain the starting gig over Ferrell.
The 2019 fourth-overall pick drew attention from opposing offenses as he accounted for 38 tackles and 4.5 sacks during a pedestrian rookie campaign, while fellow rookie defensive end Maxx Crosby more than doubled Ferrell in both sacks and pressures. Nonetheless, Ferrell is locked into a starting spot at DE as the Raiders appear to have found a promising pass-rushing duo with youth on their side, and the team bolstered the unit again this offseason by signing free agent Carl Nassib, who racked up 12.5 sacks over the past two years.
It didn't take long for a multitude of mock drafts to be proven wildly inaccurate when the Raiders surprisingly made Ferrell the fourth overall selection in April. Ferrell won the Ted Hendricks Award as college football's top defensive end in 2018, but the Clemson product doesn't carry nearly the amount of upside as several defensive weapons that remained on the board. Nonetheless, Ferrell is slated to immediately start along Oakland's defensive line and provide a much-needed boost to a unit that has struggled with rushing the passer since trading away three-time All-Pro Khalil Mack.

Could shift inside
DELas Vegas Raiders
June 13, 2022
Ferrell could be moved to defensive tackle this season, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The fourth overall pick in the 2019 Draft has been a massive disappointment so far in his NFL career, managing only eight sacks in 42 games over three seasons. Ferrell had the fifth-year option on his rookie contract declined this offseason, and the Raiders had the 25-year-old lining up inside during last week's minicamp rather than coming off the edge. Additional versatility can't hurt his chances of earning snaps and drawing interest as a free agent next year, but Ferrell seems unlikely to make much of an impact in 2022, regardless of what position he plays.
