October 15, 2024
The Seahawks placed Burns on injured reserve Tuesday due to a toe injury, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Burns injured his toe during the Seahawks' Week 6 loss against the 49ers on Thursday. It's the same toe he injured during the preseason, and the 2016 first-round pick will be forced to miss at least the next four regular-season games, making Week 12 against the Cardinals on Nov. 24 the earliest he can return.

After missing the 2020 season with a torn ACL, Burns re-signed with the Bears on a one-year deal for the 2021 season. There's an excellent chance that if he's fully recovered, that he steps in as the full-time slot corner, which could result in a high tackle total. Although he's intercepted just four passes in 58 career games, he recorded 65 and 54 tackles in 2016 and 2017, so if he's on the field regularly, he's capable of providing fantasy managers a solid scoring floor in IDP leagues.
Pittsburgh sent a clear message to Burns when they declined to pick up the option on his rookie contract, making him a free agent after this season. The former first-round draft pick saw a 68 percent decrease in defensive snaps and was relegated to special teams after Week 6, and the signing of free agent Steven Nelson further reduces his fantasy value.
Entering his third season, Burns has four interceptions and 26 passes defended. He will once again take-up residence in Pittsburgh’s defensive backfield, which ranked fifth best against the past last season. He should put-up decent fantasy numbers this season, although not enough to merit serious IDP consideration.
Burns had a solid rookie season and is slated to start at cornerback in 2017, but off-field troubles with the law could cause him to miss some time if the league opts to act. He was an integral part of a much-improved pass defense and should continue to put-up decent fantasy numbers this season.
Expected to compete with Doran Grant for work in nickel packages, the first round draft pick may have an opportunity for regular playing time opposite William Gay after Senquez Golson suffered a training camp injury that could have him miss most of the season. Pittsburgh is hopeful that Burns can help improve their 30th ranked pass defense.

All but done in Pittsburgh
CBPittsburgh Steelers
January 1, 2020
Burns doesn't expect to re-sign with the Steelers this offseason with his rookie contract set to expire in March, Jacob Klinger of The Harrisburg Patriot-News reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2016 first-round pick's underwhelming career in Pittsburgh may have essentially ended in November, as he last suited up Week 11 against the Browns. Burns logged just one start all season, which came in Week 6 against the Chargers, when Steven Nelson was sidelined by injury. Burns confirmed his realization that he had pretty much been "out the door" for some time. As a 24-year-old cornerback who already boasts 42 games of NFL experience, Burns should receive his fair share of attention on the open market.
