Gets deal with Chargers
OGLos Angeles Chargers
May 29, 2024
The Chargers signed Leatherwood to a contract Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
After starting all 17 regular-season games as a rookie for the Raiders in 2021, Leatherwood played in just four contests with the Bears in 2022 and didn't log any playing time in 2023 after landing on the non-football illness list at the start of the season. He should have a chance to compete for a depth role along the Chargers' offensive line for the upcoming campaign.

2021
The 2021 first rounder underwhelmed as a rookie and his pass protection remains suspect at best, but he still looks like the favorite to start at right tackle for the Raiders in 2022, though the team may continue to move him around the offensive line.
The 2020 Outland Trophy winner out of Alabama was selected 17th overall by the Raiders, and Leatherwood should be the favorite to start at right tackle immediately.

Unlikely to make final roster
OGLas Vegas Raiders
August 27, 2022
There's belief among evaluators from teams around the league that the Raiders may look to either trade or waive Leatherwood following this preseason, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fowler added that the Raiders wanted to wait until after Friday's preseason finale against the Patriots to fully evaluate Leatherwood, who allowed a team-high seven pressures over his first two preseason games, per Pro Football Focus. Ted Nguyen of The Athletic also reports that Leatherwood was losing the team's right tackle job against Brandon Parker and Thayer Munford before both players suffered injuries. The 2021 first-round pick appeared to similarly struggle against New England on Friday, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports, leaving it likely that Las Vegas will look elsewhere for potential starters along the right side of the offensive line.
