What is 5x5 fantasy baseball?

5x5 means a roto league with five hitting categories and five pitching categories. You try to finish at the top of the league in as many of those categories as possible. The most common hitting categories are: batting average, runs, RBI, home runs and steals. The most common pitching categories are: wins, strikeouts, saves, ERA and WHIP. If you are in a 12-team league and you win a category, you get 12 standings points. If you finish second, you get 11 points, etc... These standing points are tracked throughout the season. There are no weekly matchups. At the end of the season, the team that finished highest in the combined categories wins.
