2025 Fantasy Outlook
Oregon has a knack for recruiting elite running backs, and Hughes ensures there will be no dropoff at the position after losing Jordan James to the NFL. Hughes is a transfer from Tulane, where he registered 2,779 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns over two years in New Orleans. He's found a perfect situation in Oregon, where a re-tooled coaching staff and offensive system will put Hughes squarely in the spotlight. The sky is the limit for Hughes, who could finish as a Heisman candidate if he replicates his success from the AAC. Hughes shares some similarities with his predecessor, as many of the same adjectives attached to James' playing style also suit Hughes quite well. The 5-11, 210-pound speedster has great vision and patience, and averaged 5.3 yards per carry at Tulane while also displaying adeptness as a pass-catcher. He will be a great security blanket for what will be an inexperienced starter under center. Read Past Outlooks

Set to redshirt
Hughes will redshirt the 2025 season, per Rob Moseley of Oregon's official site.
ANALYSIS
Hughes reportedly asked to redshirt in 2025, and head coach Dan Lanning has obliged. The tailback has played in four games this season, but didn't travel to Happy Valley last week as the Ducks toppled Penn State in an overtime thriller. The Tulane transfer was expected to be a big part of this Ducks' ground game, but that hasn't materialized and Hughes will now look towards the 2026 season.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
After receiving only eight carries in the opener during the 2023 campaign, Hughes averaged 19.2 carries per contest the rest of the way. The loss of head coach Willie Fritz figures to result in a scheme change of sorts. New head coach Jon Sumrall's offense at Troy threw the ball 48.5 percent of the time last season compared to Fritz's 41.1 percent at Tulane, but that adjustment should be offset by the fact that the Trojans ran 3.5 more plays per game, and Sumrall leaned more on his lead back at a heifer rate, resulting in a whopping 297 carries for Kimani Vidal last season. Hughes is undoubtedly capable of handling a similar workload, compiling 258 of his own carries last season, so the opportunity should remain for him to post similar numbers during 2024.
