Headed for NFL Draft
December 12, 2020
Coach Mike Gundy indicated on a pregame radio show Saturday that Hubbard (ankle) has elected to sit out the remainder of the season to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft, Scott Wright of The Oklahoman reports.
ANALYSIS
Unfortunately for Hubbard, his decision to return to school for 2020 may have dinged his draft stock a bit, as he was unable to take the field consistently and his efficiency on the ground wasn't nearly as good as it had been the last pair of campaigns. Still, he should get a chance to prove his worth during the combine and has solid tape to show from the previous two campaigns.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2020
2019
Hubbard was the best running back in the nation last season with 2,094 yards rushing which was the 16th most in FBS History. He added 21 touchdowns to go along with 12 100-yard rushing performances in his 13 games in 2019. This led to a Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year Award and unanimous All-American honors. Oklahoma State is primed for a breakout season as they return 19 starters including sophomore quarterback, Spencer Sanders and star receiver Tylan Wallace. With Sanders and Wallace able to stretch the field, there's no reason to think that Hubbard can't be fantasy's top running back once again. Although Hubbard is a candidate for touchdown regression, he's no doubt going to be a workhorse during his senior season.
Justice Hill had the seventh-most rushing yards in Oklahoma State history, and while losing him to the NFL hurts, Hubbard gave Cowboys fans a glimpse of a bright future with an impressive freshman campaign. Hubbard averaged 6.0 yards per carry and was an impact player in the passing game with 22 catches on 28 targets. Now that Hill is gone, the runway is clear for Hubbard to take on a major workload in a Mike Gundy offense that may skew more towards the run due to a lack of a proven option at quarterback.
