Declares for draft
Not Injury Related
January 7, 2021
Jordan announced Thursday via his personal Twitter account that he'll forgo his remaining eligibility at Miami to enter the 2021 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Jordan capped off his college career with his best season to date, racking up 38 receptions for 576 yards and seven touchdowns on 53 targets. The decision doesn't exactly come as a surprise, as Jordan is expected to be one of the first tight ends off the board in April.

On talent alone, Jordan has an argument to be considered the nation's top tight end, and is a likely high NFL draft pick a year from now. But that talent has only flashed occasionaly in two seasons in Coral Gables. Injuries have been partly to blame, as Jordan has missed four games in each of his first two seasons. Irratic quarterback play has also been a factor, as Miami has seen four quarterbacks throw 150+ passes in Jordan's career. When featured, Jordan puts up elite production at college football's thinnest position, posting four games last year with at least five catches, three times topping 70 yards. But he too often has disappeared, and has not caught more than 35 balls in either season, and has six total touchdowns. Injuries can be fluky, as can touchdowns. Quarterback play should be vastly improved with D'Eriq King transfering in. How Jordan will be used in Miami's new spread offense remains to be seen, but his athletic ability in the slot if matched up with linebackers should be a huge plus. Drafting Jordan on name recognition has disappointed so far. Taking him a round or two earlier than his production has dictated could pay off handsomely this season however.
Jordan certainly has a shot to earn looks at tight end in his first season with the Hurricanes, as Michael Irvin is due to miss extended time and Brian Polendey doesn't have the same level of talent. Given Jordan’s elite recruiting background as the consensus No.1 tight end in the class of 2018 and his impressive 6-foot-3, 250-pound build, Miami likely plans on utilizing one of their top recruits when possible. The freshman tight end is also fortunate to have one of the stronger arms in the ACC in Malik Rosier at his disposal, so Jordan should have plenty of opportunities to make a name for himself. Miami’s above average passing attack (242.6 passing yards per game, ranked 54th in FBS), figures to be a solid fit for Jordan, who has a chance to emerge as one of the more productive tight ends by seasons close.
