Walker Howard News: Named starting quarterback

Howard has been named Louisiana-Lafayette's starting quarterback, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.

Howard has gotten the QB1 spot for the Cajuns with the season opener against Rice just a little over a week away. The former Ole Miss/LSU quarterback was competing with second-year Daniel Beale but got the edge in the end. Howard will finally be able to show what he's got after being buried in the depth charts at his past two schools.
