When it comes to college football teams that are living well, it's hard to beat the North Carolina State Wolfpack. N.C. State (2-0) has a plus-11 point differential combined after victories over East Carolina and Virginia this year.
Overall, the Wolfpack's luck rating of 0.8 ranked just ahead of Iowa State and Mississippi State, who check in at 0.7 apiece. The Cyclones beat Iowa, 16-13, in the contest lovingly known as "El Assico," while the latter held on for dear life to upset then-No. 12 Arizona State, 24-20, to move to 2-0. The Bulldogs have matched their total number of wins from last season, though CFB futures lines still consider them a longshot to do much else.
In Iowa State's case, the home side moved to 3-0 despite gaining just 238 yards. The Cyclones forced an interception and held the visiting Hawkeyes to even fewer yards (214).
For the Bulldogs, it was more a matter of surviving than thriving. MSU led 17-3 at the half before holding on for dear life, with ASU scoring 17 points in the second half to close things up. Bulldogs QB Brenen Thompson won it on a 58-yard TD pass with 30 seconds left.
Other lovable winners so far in Power 4 conferences (the SEC, Big 12, Big Ten and ACC) include the Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes and Michigan State Spartans, all with matching scores of 0.6. The LSU Tigers are seventh at 0.5 this week and Auburn and Rutgers are tied for eighth, at 0.4 apiece.

Can the unluckiest teams so far turn things around for their college football odds this season?
On the flip end of the coin toss, we have the teams with the least amount of luck through the first weekend in September.
Kansas State fell to 1-2 after losing to Army at home, 24-21 on Saturday. The visiting Black Knights scored 10 unanswered points to seal the win.
Overall, the Wildcats and their minus-1.0 luck score is just ahead of the Florida Gators (minus-0.8), who managed to lose at home to USF, 18-16, despite holding the ball for nearly 10 more minutes than their visitors from Tampa. USF pulled off the upset on a day where they entered as an 18-point underdog on most U.S. sports betting sites.
Other CFB teams that join the Gators and Wildcats on the wrong end of our luck scale include the Alabama Crimson Tide, who have the third-worst luck score at minus-0.6 despite getting right in a 73-0 cakewalk over Louisiana Monroe on Saturday. The West Virginia Mountaineers and Boston College Eagles are next in line with matching lucky scores of minus-0.5.
Virginia, Iowa, Virginia Tech and Clemson (minus-0.4) share matching lucky scores, followed by Michigan (-0.3) for the full top 10 list of unluckiest FBS teams in the country right now. Real money sportsbook apps have lines and props for college football all season.
