76ers romp Hornets on Saturday
The Philadelphia 76ers blew out the Charlotte Hornets ,135-82, at the Spectrum Center on Saturday night, in what was the largest point-differential in a game this season.

It was a complete game for the 76ers (18-7), who held the Hornets to 23 points or less in three quarters. Philadelphia started off hot with a commanding 33-17 first quarter, before pushing their lead to 29 entering halftime. They continued to flex their muscles in the third quarter, and entering the final frame up 41, both teams elected to empty their benches. The 76ers dominated in nearly every statistical category, including points in the paint (64-46), field goal shooting (59.6 percent vs. 36.3 percent), three-point shooting (45.2 percent vs. 20.0 percent) and assists (29 vs. 15). The 76ers now have the longest active winning streak of six, while the Hornets dropped their fourth straight game and are 2-8 in their last 10 games as they struggle without All-Star point guard LaMelo Ball.

The 76ers’ success this season has come off the back of reigning MVP Joel Embiid, and Saturday night was no exception as he continues to make franchise history with his 10th straight 30-point, 10-rebound double-double. He finished the contest with 42 points on a hot 18-for-23 shooting while adding 15 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in just 30 minutes of play. Running mate Tyrese Maxey continues to build his Most Improved Player award candidacy as he chipped in 21 points, seven assists and two steals while leading the team with a plus-43 point differential. Tobias Harris contributed 15 points, five rebounds and four assists while Kelly Oubre and Daniel House had 12 and 10 points off the bench respectively.

Only two Hornets players scored in double-digits Saturday, with Brandon Miller leading the way with 14 points on a cold 4-for-16 shooting to go along with four rebounds and four assists, while Bryce McGowen contributed 12 points over 24 minutes. Terry Rozier saw his season-long double-digit scoring streak come to an end when he had just six points on 3-for-10 shooting. Miles Bridges finished with nine points on 3-for-14 shooting, 10 rebounds and a team-worst minus-56 point differential. Nick Smith and James Bouknight each scored nine points off the bench.

With Saturday’s game in the books, both teams will play their next game Monday. The 76ers travel back to Philadelphia to begin a three-game homestand starting with the Chicago Bulls, while the Hornets head to the Great White North to take on the Toronto Raptors.
