Pistons Secure Road Win Over Hornets
The Detroit Pistons defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 111-99, at Spectrum Center on Friday.

The Pistons (1-1) secured their first win and delivered a solid display to get past the Hornets (1-1) on the road. Led by six players who scored in double digits, Detroit was in complete control of the contest right from the get-go and secured a double-digit lead following the first 12 minutes of action (32-21). The Hornets showed some signs of life in the second quarter and reduced the deficit to seven points after a 26-22 score. However, they never threatened too much and were never really close to mounting a comeback. The Pistons won the final two quarters, 29-28 and 28-24, and they ended up cruising their way to an easy win against another lowly Eastern Conference opponent.

Alec Burks was the best player for the Pistons despite coming off the bench, as he ended with a 27 plus-minus and posted 24 points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. Jaden Ivey was productive off the bench, too, and recorded 18 points with four assists. Isaiah Stewart had 15 points and seven rebounds, and Jalen Duren impressed on both ends of the court with a 14-point, 17-rebound double-double. Duren also notched three assists, two steals and two blocks. Cade Cunningham finished with 12 points and six assists.

LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier paced the Hornets with 20 points each. Ball was far more complete, however, as he also added nine rebounds and nine assists, while Rozier delivered three boards and an assist. Gordon Hayward finished with 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. P.J. Washington had 13 points, three boards, three assists and two steals. Brandon Miller posted 17 points and six boards off the bench.
