Pistons Outlast Wizards, 129-117
The Detroit Pistons defeated the Washington Wizards, 129-117, at Capital One Arena on Monday afternoon.

The Pistons (4-36) were in their usual underdog position coming into the game, but a first quarter in which they impressively jumped out to a 29-22 lead implied matters might go differently than usual. The Wizards (7-32) bounced back to eliminate all but one point from their deficit before halftime, but Detroit had extended its advantage back out to seven going into the final period and didn't relinquish their edge the rest of the way despite Washington getting within as close as two.

Alec Burks paced the Pistons with 34 points, adding two rebounds and two assists. Jaden Ivey supplied 24 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three blocks. Jalen Duren generated a 20-point, 19-rebound double-double that included four assists and one block. Isaiah Stewart managed 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal. Ausar Thompson totaled 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Tyus Jones led the Wizards with 22 points, complementing them with seven assists, six rebounds and one steal. Kyle Kuzma compiled 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. Jordan Poole netted 16 points, and Deni Avdija registered 12 points, four assists, two rebounds and two blocks.

The Pistons return home to host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, while the Wizards visit the New York Knicks on Thursday night.
