The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the New York Knicks,129-123, in overtime, at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

The Lakers (24-28) checked into the contest looking to atone for back-to-back losses to the Celtics and Nets, and they appeared to be on solid footing with LeBron James and Anthony Davis back after off days in Monday's loss to Brooklyn. The availability of the two stars unsurprisingly seemed to give Los Angeles an early boost in the form of a 29-24 lead through one. The Knicks (27-25) eliminated their deficit and built a one-point advantage going into halftime, but it was the visitors holding a three-point edge heading into the final period. However, the Lakers ultimately blew a six-point lead with 1:41 remaining in regulation, yet they made up for it by outpacing New York, 15-9, in overtime.

James led the Lakers with 28 points, adding 11 assists, 10 rebounds and one steal. Davis furnished 27 points, nine boards, one assist and two steals. Rui Hachimura delivered 19 points, nine rebounds and one block. Russell Westbrook totaled 17 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three steals. Dennis Schroder contributed 12 points, six assists and one rebound.

Jalen Brunson paced the Knicks with 37 points, complementing them with six assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block. Julius Randle generated a 23-point, 12-rebound double-double that included five assists. Immanuel Quickley registered 19 points, eight assists, three rebounds and one steal. Isaiah Hartenstein generated a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double that included one assist. R.J. Barrett and Quentin Grimes provided 13 and 12 points, respectively. Barrett also provided three rebounds and two assists while Grimes finished with four boards, three assists and two steals.

The Lakers remain on the road and visit the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, while the Knicks remain home and host the Miami Heat on Thursday night as well.
