2025 Fantasy Outlook
Not since Randy Arozarena's 2020 playoff exploits has a prospect improved their stock more in a postseason than Yesavage did during Toronto's run to Game 7 of the World Series. He finished the regular season as a top 25 fantasy prospect, but then Yesavage logged a 3.58 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 39:11 K:BB in 27.2 playoff innings, including a historic 12-K performance against the Dodgers in the World Series. Small-sample greatness aside, Yesavage proved over the course of the 2025 campaign that the Jays found a gem with the 20th overall pick in 2024, as he logged at least four starts at Single-A, High-A, Double-A and Triple-A before making his big-league debut Sept. 15. He boasts a true three-pitch mix, with his four-seamer, slider and splitter all getting thrown over a quarter of the time. The most notable thing about the 6-foot-4 Yesavage is his release point height, which is over seven feet - a realm only inhabited by Justin Verlander and Pete Fairbanks during the regular season. This results in an uncomfortable at-bat for hitters and plenty of ugly swings. The one thing to nitpick is his control, as he walked over 15 percent of batters at High-A and Triple-A before walking 10.5 percent of batters in the majors (including the playoffs), but given that he didn't turn 22 until July and is a no-doubt starter, it's not a major concern. Including the postseason, Yesavage threw 139.2 innings in 2025, so he shouldn't have any restrictions in 2026. Read Past Outlooks
Historic performance in Game 5
Yesavage (3-1) picked up the win in Game 5 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing one earned run on three hits and no walks while striking out 12 batters in seven innings.
Analysis
Outside of the third-inning solo homer he gave up to Enrique Hernandez, Yesavage's performance Wednesday was nothing short of brilliant versus one of baseball's most dynamic offenses. The 22-year-old righty pounded the strike zone, throwing 71 of his 104 pitches for strikes, and he finished the night with a dozen punchouts -- the most any rookie has had in a World Series game. Now carrying a 3.46 ERA in the postseason, Yesavage is done starting games in 2025, but he's expected to be available out of the bullpen if the series goes to Game 7.
