27-Year-Old ShortstopSS
Boston Red Sox AAA
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sogard had his contract selected in the second half of 2024 and made his MLB debut. The 27-year-old appeared at every infield position while Boston dealt with injuries. He served mostly at second base, which remains a position of uncertainty leading up to the regular season. There are several candidates in camp, including hot prospect Kristian Campbell, a healthy Vaughn Grissom and David Hamilton, who started the most games at second base in 2024. Boston is also in on Alex Bregman, who almost certainly would start at the second. Sogard is unlikely to start the season as a starter and would have to make the club as a utility infielder. Heading back to Triple-A
SSBoston Red Sox  AAA
June 30, 2025
The Red Sox optioned Sogard to Triple-A Worcester on Monday.
Analysis
After being called up from Triple-A on Friday, Sogard picked up one start at third base and two at the keystone while going a collective 3-for-10 with two doubles, one walk, two runs and one RBI in the Red Sox's three-game series versus Toronto. Despite his ample usage over the weekend, Sogard will end up moving back to the minors while the Red Sox clear a spot on the 26-man roster for Marcelo Mayer (personal), who was reinstated from the bereavement list.

Sogard could lose his place on the Red Sox's 26-man roster Sunday, reports Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com.
Analysis
Sogard received three straight starts at first base from May 19-21, but Abraham Toro has dominated playing time at the position over the past week, and Boston will need a roster spot for Nate Eaton, who is expected to get a promotion from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday. Sogard hasn't made a huge impression in his 53 plate appearances this year with a .608 OPS.
