2026 Fantasy Outlook
Bellinger's Bronx debut was solid yet unspectacular given some of the wish-casting related to his possible production moving into a stadium seemingly built for his swing. Bellinger did set a new post-pandemic high for home runs with 29, 18 of which came in Yankee Stadium while also hitting .302. However, a .241 average and 11 home runs on the road capped his overall number. His run production and overall five-category production were still good enough to make him the 10th-most valuable outfielder in standard league formats, and it is not unusual to see free agents take a step forward in their second year in a new market. Bellinger remains one of the tougher players to strike out, which belies what some of his swings looks like. He has an unusual profile for someone ranked so highly, as his several of his StatCast indicators are in the bottom 25th to 50th percentile, which should limit expectations of a 2026 improvement for him. The home park makes anything possible, but improvements away from Yankee Stadium will ultimately determine whether Bellinger can take a step forward in the rankings. Read Past Outlooks
Declines player option for 2026
Bellinger became a free agent Monday after declining his $25 million player option for 2026, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Analysis
Bellinger will test out free agency after slashing .272/.334/.480 with 29 home runs, 98 RBI and 13 stolen bases over 152 regular-season games for the Yankees in 2025. The Yankees will likely make an effort to re-sign the 30-year-old, but Bellinger should have a healthy market as a relatively young free agent coming off a nice season who can play multiple positions.

Either advanced metrics aren't capturing what drives Bellinger's success, or he's been fortunate for three seasons. Since 2022, Bellinger has outperformed his xwOBA. Two years ago, it was by a whopping 53 points, then last season the delta fell to 21 points. Bellinger sports the combination of mediocre quality of contact with a low strikeout rate, leading to variance. If true, the regression monster and Lady Luck will have words, so don't be surprised if Bellinger's numbers tumble. Durability is also an issue with 130 games played each of the past two seasons, and an average of 125 spanning the past four years. Bellinger's stolen bases dropped last season, though his 82 percent success rate (9-for-11) bodes well for a return to double digits. He could also see a power boost thanks to the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium after he was traded to the Bronx. Someone is likely to draft Bellinger's name brand and inflated stats. Don't get in their way.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Unaffected by Grisham decision
The Yankees still want to re-sign Bellinger even after Trent Grisham accepted the team's one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Analysis
Grisham is back as the Yankees' primary center fielder, but there is still room for Bellinger in left field, if the team isn't committed to using Jasson Dominguez there on an everyday basis. Bellinger will be sought after by many teams, however, after slashing .272/.334/.480 with 29 home runs, 98 RBI and 13 stolen bases over 152 regular-season games in 2025.
