2025 Fantasy Outlook
Roden came into 2024 with a stellar track record of hitting for contact and working high walk rates without ever logging an ISO over .150. He brought the same excellent contact skill (83.4 Contact%) and patience (12.1 BB%) across stops at Double-A and Triple-A while hitting 16 home runs in 125 games and slugging .473 with a 31.4 percent hard-hit rate. Roden slashed .314/.406/.510 with nine home runs, eight steals and a 14.3 percent strikeout rate in 71 games at Triple-A while seeing time in all three outfield spots, but primarily the corners. Given his track record of getting on base (career .407 OBP in the minors), Roden just needs to hit for 20-homer power to provide enough value to be in the lineup most days, even as a left fielder. He's not known for being a great athlete and his 38 steals over the past two seasons were mostly the product of good reads while being on first base a lot. He's not on the 40-man roster yet, but Roden doesn't have anything left to prove at Triple-A, so it's just a matter of awaiting his chance. Read Past Outlooks
Power shows up at Triple-A
Roden is slashing .316/.404/.509 with nine home runs, eight steals and a 14.3 percent strikeout rate in 68 games for Triple-A Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Roden turns 25 this offseason and will likely end up in left field, so he has no margin for error offensively. He has a career .298 average and .407 on-base percentage, but this run at Triple-A represents Roden's top power output (.192 ISO, .509 SLG are career bests) to date. Players with Roden's elite contact skill can sometimes be late bloomers in the power department, and he doesn't need to be added to the 40-man roster as Rule 5 draft protection until next offseason.
