Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Frazier is returning to where it all began. After moving on from the Pirates in 2021, then playing with four different teams, he's back in the Steel City on a one-year deal where he'll serve as a super-utility with the ability to play infield and outfield. Last season with the Royals was the first he didn't play regularly since 2019 as his already weak Hard-Hit rate dropped even more while he posted a career high strikeout rate. The Pirates infield isn't exactly stacked with potential All-Stars, but Frazier will need to regain some exit velocity to be anything more than an occasional fill in. Even though, he offers little in terms of power and speed. Read Past Outlooks

Rest of Season

Starting at keystone Friday
Frazier is starting at second base and batting eighth against the Marlins on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Frazier replaced Nick Gonzales in the sixth inning of Thursday's win over Miami after the latter injured his left ankle. With Gonzales being placed on the 10-day IL on Friday, Frazier looks to have a hold on the keystone position for the time being and could remain in lineups against southpaws, whom he's batted .246 against in his career.

Frazier slashed .240/.300/.396 with 60 RBI across 454 plate appearances with the Orioles last season. He elected free agency to avoid being completely phased out by Baltimore's young talent, and he will presumably replace Michael Massey as the Royals' primary second baseman while occasionally getting a look in the corner outfield spots.

Likely hitting free agency
Frazier's mutual option for 2025 is likely to be declined, per Anne Rogers of MLB.com.
ANALYSIS
The 32-year-old underwent thumb surgery after the Royals lost to the Yankees in the ALDS, but he should be healthy in time for spring training. Frazier signed with Kansas City over the winter but produced the worst offensive year of his career with a .202/.282/.294 slash line in 104 regular-season games. The veteran utility man should be able to secure a contract somewhere for 2025, though he may have to settle for a minor-league deal.
