Pinto was waived by Tampa Bay early in the offseason and grabbed by Baltimore shortly thereafter before changing teams again and ending up in Arizona via a waiver claim. Pinto had been in the Tampa Bay organization since 2014 and showed some offensive upside through 2022 but spent the last few years as the club's third catcher between Durham and St. Pete while doing little other than jumping on mistakes. Pinto can punish a mistake, but can also be easily disposed of by pitchers as long as they hit their spots with their fastballs. You see, that's all Pinto is doing: hunting for fastballs, as eight of his 10 career homers have come off fastballs, while he swings and misses at an insane amount of fastballs as well as every other pitch type. Pinto is out of options, as is Jose Herrera, and those two will likely be competing this spring to be Gabriel Moreno's backup. Read Past Outlooks
