Driscoll has slowly worked his way up the organizational ladder since being part of the deal which sent Emilio Pagan to San Diego back in 2020. Driscoll finally made his way to the big leagues in late 2024 and homered off Tanner Bibee for his only highlight of his time in the majors. Driscoll has hit .269/.348/.437 in just under 1400 minor league plate appearances and the former 2nd round pick out of George Mason raked in college with a .337/.427/.513 slash line over three seasons. The lefty has a swing that is taking aim for the fences even if he rarely gets it there. All eight of him homersTriple-A came off righties and his numbers against lefties are as bad as Rortvedt's, who he is in a platoon with at catcher as the roster stands now. It's odd to see two lefty catchers on the 40-man, and neither of them controls the running game well which was a problem for the club in 2024. Driscoll has all his minor league options so while he is penciled in as the backup at this time, the club is only as loyal to that decision until a right-handed catcher who throws well becomes available on the open market or via trade.
