Iriarte's stuff clearly belongs in the big leagues, it's just a question of whether he fits best as a starter or reliever. A 6-foot-2 righty with a mid-90s fastball that could touch triple digits and two quality secondary pitches in his slider and changeup, Iriarte logged 90.1 innings last season across High-A and Double-A after logging 91.1 innings in 2022. He threw three or fewer innings in 14 of his 27 appearances, often by design, but in some cases due to poor command. It's possible he will be San Diego's closer of the future, but they'll keep developing him as a starter for another year. He will need to improve on the 13.5 percent walk rate he logged at Double-A, but if he does, he could join the big-league rotation this summer. Read Past Outlooks
