2026 Fantasy Outlook
The Guardians like Halpin enough that they added him to the 40-man roster in November 2024 to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, even though he needed another full year of seasoning in the minors. The two main things to know about Halpin are that he has 70-grade speed and is a plus defender in center field. Those two traits should allow him to have a big-league career, and his speed could allow him to be useful at times in fantasy. He slashed .249/.321/.414 with 14 home runs and 15 steals in 126 games at Triple-A, good for a 95 wRC+ (five percent worse than league average). Halpin got a cup of coffee in the majors to close 2025, going 2-for-6 with two walks and five runs scored. His 34.1 Statcast HardHit% at Triple-A was a poor mark, but Halpin at least gets the ball in the air (46.9 FB%, 25.8 LD% at Triple-A) with regularity. He turns 24 in May and looks pretty boring on paper, but his defense and left-handedness could buy him stretches of playing time, during which he could be a cheap source of speed. Read Past Outlooks
