Jake McCarthy

McCarthy is stuck in a spin cycle in recent years where he puts up gaudy triple-slash lines in Triple-A Reno, but returns to the majors and does the exact opposite. McCarthy hit .314/.401/.440 in Triple-A this past season but .204/.247/.345 at the big league level. He is now nearly 1500 plate appearances into a major league career and has a frontloaded .260/.324/.381 line to show for it with 83 steals in 98 attempts. McCarthy, even at 28 years old, remains one of the fastest players in baseball by sprint speed, but his lack of power allows pitchers to confidently challenge him to do something at the plate rather than earn walks and use that speed.
