Friday is threatening to bring the rain once again, which could complicate your daily fantasy lineup choices. All 15 teams are in action, with the first game at 2:20 PM ET. However, if you don't want to get your lineup in that early, the next contest doesn't begin until 7:05 PM ET.
Here are some recommendations…
STARTING PITCHER
Kenta Maeda, LAD vs. CIN ($42): Maeda's 4.02 ERA is certainly worse than his 2.98 FIP to start this year. The 30-year-old has also pitched better at home in his career. The Reds are off to a slow start, so the odds of the Dodgers picking up a win are good, and the Reds have also been mediocre on offense so far.
Tyler Chatwood, CHC vs. CWS ($34): Chatwood has spent most of his career in Colorado, which can skew a pitcher's numbers. This year with the Cubs, though, he has a 3.31 ERA and has struck out 8.82 batters per nine innings. The White Sox, meanwhile, are 1-9 in their last 10 games and rank 28th in runs scored.
CATCHER
Buster Posey, SFG at PIT ($16): Posey took Thursday off, which is not unusual for a catcher, but he should be good to go for Friday. He has a .304/.368/.420 slash line and over the last three seasons he posted a slash line of .308/.378/.451. Pittsburgh pitcher Jameson Taillon has a career 4.04 ERA and has actually pitched worse at home the last couple of years.
FIRST BASE
Justin Bour, MIA vs. ATL ($17): Bour's batting average is down, but he also has a .240 BABIP well below his .298 career average. Besides, he's still walking, and he's still hitting for power. The 29-year-old also has a much better slugging percentage against righties. Brandon McCarthy is a righty, and he has a 4.51 ERA over his last three seasons.
SECOND BASE
Gleyber Torres, NYY vs. OAK ($16): Torres doesn't even have 70 plate appearances to his name, but what we've seen so far is impressive. The 21-year-old was also considered a top-notch prospect heading into this season, so it's not surprising he's been good. Andrew Triggs only has 25 starts to his name in his own right, but that's over three seasons, and he has a 4.32 career ERA.
THIRD BASE
Jeimer Candelario, DET vs. SEA ($19): Candelario is off to a strong start in his first season as a regular starter, posting a .286/.367/.521 slash line with five homers in 35 games. Seattle's pitcher Marco Gonzales has not gotten off to as good of a start, as he has a 5.19 ERA. Beyond that, in his career he has a 5.38 ERA and has allowed 1.37 home runs per nine innings.
SHORTSTOP
Jean Segura, SEA at DET ($15): Segura has always been a strong base stealer, as he has averaged 26 stolen bases over the last three seasons. His average and OBP are a little down this year, but it's still early and he could turn it around. Matt Boyd has a 3.00 ERA, but a 3.76 FIP. Even that is good for him, as in his career Boyd has a 4.85 FIP and has allowed 1.52 homers per nine innings.
OUTFIELD
Christian Yelich, MIL at COL ($22): Like a lot of lefties, Yelich hits right-handed pitchers better than southpaws. However, the 26-year-old has never really had an issue with hitting or getting on base. Chad Betties, a righty, has a 2.05 ERA, but a 4.18 FIP. Plus, his ERA at home this year is 4.22, so his success has been on the road. Hitting at Coors Field could bode well for Yelich.
Rhys Hoskins, PHI vs. NYM ($20): Hoskins hit for a ton of power last season, notching 18 dingers in a mere 50 games. This year, he has five home runs in 37 contests. Steven Matz starting his career off well, but last year he had a 5.09 FIP and this season his FIP is 5.19. He's also suddenly started giving up a lot more homers.
Michael Brantley, CLE vs. KAN ($17): Brantley is one of those players who hits well when healthy, and right now he is healthy and sporting a .324/.360/.520 slash line. These numbers are in line with 2015, which is the last year in which he played more than 90 games. The 35-year-old Jason Hammel has had a road ERA over 5.30 in each of his last two seasons, and he is at 5.47 this year. He's also only striking out 4.98 batters per nine innings.
