2025 Fantasy Outlook
Austin had an encouraging rookie year in 2022 while starting in 32 of 36 appearances, but she's struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, which has diminished her fantasy value. She underwent hip surgery in December of 2023, and although she was available for the start of the 2024 regular season, she struggled with hip and ankle issues throughout the year and usually had her playing time monitored when she was available. Despite her limited minutes, Austin put up strong fantasy production when on the court, averaging 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in 19.9 minutes per game over 12 appearances. She played in Unrivaled over the winter and should provide plenty of fantasy value if she's fully healthy for the WNBA season in 2025, especially since Elena Delle Donne seems unlikely to rejoin the team. Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Austin underwent hip surgery at the beginning of December and was given a 4-to-6 month recovery timetable, putting her status for the start of 2024 in jeopardy. Even if she’s available right away, she may experience some limitations to avoid a potential setback. Despite battling the lingering issue during the 2023 campaign, Austin still averaged 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.9 blocks across 19 appearances (17 starts). However, due to the missed time, she finished as the 89th player in fantasy as opposed to her 56th-place finish as a rookie, even though her averages were better in Year 2. Austin’s health is going to be the main factor when evaluating her fantasy value, but as long as she’s available, the third-year center has a chance to take a major leap in 2024.
Austin was the third overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft but flew under the radar compared to fellow rookies Rhyne Howard and NaLyssa Smith. However, Austin showed plenty of promise, appearing in every game last year and starting in 32 of her 36 outings. She faced some growing pains with inconsistent performances but was a solid source of points and rebounds, averaging 8.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game. The Mystics acquired Amanda Zahui B. during the offseason, but Austin's role in 2023 should remain secure, especially since Elizabeth Williams is now in Chicago. Austin's inconsistency may drive her down fantasy draft boards in 2023, but she certainly has upside if she can take a step forward during her sophomore season
