Mack had a chance to showcase her talent to begin the 2024 campaign, as Brittney Griner missed the first 10 games of the year due to a toe injury. Mack performed well as a fill-in starter, averaging 4.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.1 blocks in 22.5 minutes per game. She started in just one of her last 30 regular-season appearances and was inconsistent down the stretch, as she averaged 3.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 15.5 minutes per game over the course of the season. The 27-year-old could claim a starting job for the new-look Mercury in 2025 now that Griner is in Atlanta. The Mercury announced Saturday that Mack will be sidelined 2-3 weeks with a lower back injury.
ANALYSIS
The Mercury will be shorthanded to begin the season, as Kahleah Copper will also be out 4-6 weeks following knee surgery. In Mack's absence, Satou Sabally could see a larger workload and Kathryn Westbeld could potentially be more involved.
