2025 Fantasy Outlook
Taurasi is a WNBA legend, holding multiple scoring records, including all-time points and all-time three-pointers made. Her production has declined slightly in recent years, but she still averaged 14.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 29.0 minutes per game while appearing in 36 regular-season matchups in 2024, her age-42 season. She announced her retirement in February following a 21-year career, and Kahleah Copper should take on a leading role in the Mercury's backcourt moving forward. Read Past Outlooks

2022
Taurasi is the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer, and she became the first player in league history to eclipse 10,000 career points during the 2023 season. While Taurasi will be revered historically as one of the best players in league history, her production has declined in recent seasons. She played just 27.3 minutes per game last year, her lowest mark in a full season in her career, and she averaged 16.0 points, 4.6 assists and 3.6 rebounds. The 41-year-old made just 26 appearances and has appeared in more than 30 games in a season just once over the past five years. Taurasi still has some fantasy upside since she still has performances with prolific scoring totals, but she’s more inconsistent than she was in her prime. She’s still relatively productive when healthy, but fantasy managers who select her should be prepared for some absences and occasional lackluster performances.
One of the greatest players in the history of the women's game, Taurasi announced in February that she'll return for her 19th WNBA season. At this point in her career, the 40-year-old has lost a step, though she's still been a productive fantasy asset when healthy. In 31 games last season, Taurasi posted 16.7 points, 3.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 3.0 made threes per contest. Injuries are a concern, however, as Taurasi played in only 41 total games from 2019 through 2021.
One of the longest-tenured players in the WNBA, Taurasi has missed significant portions of the last three seasons due to various injuries. Considering she's entering her age-40 season, it would be surprising if Taurasi doesn't make a point to manage her workload. When available, Taurasi was plenty effective last season, notching 15.2 points, 4.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game, but she did see a slight downturn in her efficiency as a shooter. Excluding her six-game 2019 season, Taurasi finished with a career-worst 36.6 percent mark from the field and shot just 33.9 percent from deep, her lowest figure since her second season in the league back in 2005. Even at this stage in her career, Taurasi remains a big part of Phoenix's plans for 2022, especially with Brittney Griner's status up in the air.
