Carter spent the first two years of her career in Atlanta and averaged 15.8 points and 3.3 assists in 25.4 minutes per game while serving exclusively as a starter over 27 appearances with the Dream. However, she was traded to the Sparks ahead of the 2022 campaign and saw her role decline with her new team, averaging 8.9 points in 16.4 minutes per game. She started in just two of her 24 appearances in 2022 and was let go ahead of the 2023 season. The 27-year-old didn't sign with another team last year but joined the Sky on a training camp contract this spring. Chicago lost several key contributors during the offseason, but Marina Mabrey and Dana Evans will likely serve as the team's starting guards. Carter was unavailable for the final two games of the 2024 WNBA season due to a foot injury, but she appears to be back to full health during the offseason. Carter moved to Los Angeles in 2022 and garnered a solid reserve role for the Sparks, posting 8.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 16.4 minutes. She displayed star potential with Atlanta to start her career, but injuries and other issues limited her to just 27 games through her first two WNBA seasons. Carter was released by the Sparks in mid-March, suggesting the team has plans to go elsewhere at point guard.
Carter was suspended indefinitely by the Dream for conduct detrimental to the team and appeared in just 11 games for Atlanta during the 2021 campaign. She was traded to the Sparks in exchange for Erica Wheeler during the offseason and figures to operate as Los Angeles' top point guard during her fresh start. She averaged at least 14.0 points and 3.0 assists in each of her first two seasons in the WNBA and should produce similar numbers during her first season in Los Angeles, though she'll likely be the third offensive option behind Liz Cambage and Nneka Ogwumike.
