Jose Joaquin Esquivel Injury: Out with muscular problem

Esquivel is unavailable for an unknown period after suffering a muscle injury in the right rectus femoris, the club reported Saturday.

Esquivel started in each of the first five Apertura 2025 matchups and opened his scoring count in the last of those contests prior to his exclusion from the squad against Tigres. With the extent of the issue unknown, the midfielder's recovery time could vary, although he's unlikely to return before the international break. All of Sebastian Fierro, Jordan Sierra and Roberto Meraz might see more minutes than usual while Esquivel is sidelined.
