Rahal disappointingly qualified 21st, though he managed to move up the field thanks to being on the primary tire strategy that allowed him to change off the alternative tire following a Lap 1 caution. He also narrowly missed out on an even better finish when he was just beaten out of the pit by Pato O'Ward and Alexander Rossi for his final stint.
