Lundgaard won the pole for the Grand Prix of Portland NTT IndyCar Series race at Portland International Raceway on Saturday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 58.3939 seconds.

Lundgaard would easily advance to the Fast 6 and post a lap strong enough to beat out teammate, Pato O'Ward. Alex Palou would find the tire barriers during the final session and that would seal the pole for the Arrow McLaren driver. Unfortunately for Lundgaard, he will not be able to start P1 on Sunday due to engine component changes and will be assessed a 6-spot grid penalty. He'll still be a top contender to win at Portland.
