Earns stoppage win in debut

Asplund defeated Sean Sharaf via TKO (punches) at 3:49 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Asplund earned his UFC opportunity with a 16-second knockout win on Dana White's Contender Series in September. He made his official company debut here against Sharaf. To Asplund's credit, he kept a remarkably high pace for the entirety of the fight. He fired off a ridiculous 292 significant strikes, landing 170 of them. Now, a large part of that was due to the fact Sharaf simply wasn't able to put up much resistance, resulting in a ton of one-way traffic, but it was nice to see Asplund show an ability to win a fight that didn't end in an instant. The Minnesota native seems like a solid depth addition to the heavyweight division.

Asplund will take on Sean Sharaf in a heavyweight bout at UFC Vegas 112 on Dec. 13, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Asplund was awarded a UFC contract after besting Anthony Guarascio in Dana White's Contender Series. That was his third straight professional win, the other two coming in the LFA, where he boasts a 4-1 record. His inaugural UFC opponent Sharaf is coming off a loss in his first time in the Octagon, so both fighters will be seeking their first victory in the promotion.
Lays the concrete in main event

Asplund defeated Anthony Guarascio via TKO (punches and elbows) at 0:16 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to earn an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Asplund entered the evening's main event as a slight betting underdog in the ballpark of (+140), but "Concrete" quickly corrected that narrative with a stiff left hand that sent his opponent to the canvas. A few follow-up shots were all that was needed for Asplund to record the third-fastest finish in DWCS history. Standing at 6-foot-5 with a 78-inch reach, the 27-year-old Asplund will enter the heavyweight division with just seven pro fights under his belt.
