Oumar Sy

France
Cruises as biggest favorite on card
Sy defeated Brendson Ribeiro via TKO (strikes) at 4:42 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Paris.
ANALYSIS
Sy was a -700 favorite before falling to Alonzo Menifield via unanimous decision in June. He was a -600 favorite here, largest on the entire card, and put forth a much better performance. Not wanting to mess around with the power of Ribeiro, Sy simply went to his wrestling game and made it look easy. Ribeiro is like a fish out of water on the mat and Sy was able to get to a dominant position and unload a flurry of unanswered strikes which forced referee Patricio Carlos to step in. Sy has a ways to go and there's going to be some bumps in the road along the way, but the upside here is high.

Falls as massive favorite
Sy lost to Alonzo Menifield via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
It was a woeful performance from Sy as a -700 favorite, and he has no one to blame but himself. He fought for all of five minutes in this bout, and it all came in Round 2. Sy wasn't all that effective at that point, either, but he managed to land a takedown and pin Menifield up against the fence for more than four minutes. In Rounds 1 and 3, he engaged in a sparring match and came up on the short end. He looked like a guy with limited MMA experience and fight IQ, which is the case considering this was just his 12th professional bout at age 29. Simply put, you can't be losing fights as that big of a favorite regardless of your experience level. Sy has a ways to go in order to make up for this effort.

London calling in March
Sy is scheduled to compete against Alonzo Menifield in a light heavyweight fight at UFC London on March 22, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
It was a tale of two different 2024s between Sy and Menifield. The former began his UFC career in May by submitting Tuco Tokkos. Sy's last fight was against Da Woon Jung, who the former outlasted in three rounds. Meanwhile, Menifield suffered two knockout losses. Sy has all the momentum in his favor, and he will look to keep it that way in London.

Remains undefeated as pro
Sy defeated Da Woon Jung via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Paris.
ANALYSIS
Sy has now fought twice in the span of about four months. The UFC took it easy on him in terms of competition level faced and Sy has responded with a pair of excellent performances. He did absolutely anything he wanted against Jung, closing with a 97-36 edge in total strikes landed in addition to picking up a pair of takedowns. Sy will be 29 years of age in November and has just 10 professional fights under his belt but his physical gifts are evident. He's a guy to keep an eye on moving forward in a thin light heavyweight division.
