Booked vs. Kyle Nelson
Frevola will take on Kyle Nelson in a lightweight bout at UFC Vancouver on Oct. 18, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Frevola has now lost two in a row, including a brutal KO (knee) in his last outing against Fares Ziam in September of 2024. Now, over a year later he'll look to stop his skid and earn his sixth win in the UFC. His opponent Nelson -- who stands two inches taller than him -- lost his last fight as well.

Brutally finished in Paris
Frevola lost to Fares Ziam via KO (knee) at 2:59 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Paris.
ANALYSIS
Frevola was well on his way to losing a decision. Instead, he finds himself on the short end of a Knockout of the Year contender. Common wisdom suggested the Long Islander would have a grappling advantage over Ziam and that proved to be the case in Round 1, but Frevola appeared to quickly tire once Round 2 began and by the time the fight was over, Ziam was rag dolling him all over the place. What happened prior to the stoppage is way more concerning for Frevola than the finish itself. Now 34 years of age, "The Steamrolla" has lost back-to-back bouts on the heels of a three-fight winning streak.

Added to UFC Paris
Frevola will take on Fares Ziam in a lightweight matchup at UFC Paris on Sept. 28, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
After Frevola's last scheduled fight against Michael Johnson fell through, he called for a matchup at UFC Paris and will ultimately get his wish. He takes on an opponent in Ziam on a three-fight winning streak, though Frevola has won three of the last four in his own right, most recently falling to future title contender Benoit Saint-Denis in November. Frevola will give up four inches in both height and reach here, so look for him to attack Ziam -- who defends takedowns at a 67 percent clip -- with his wrestling.

Not fighting Johnson
Frevola will not fight Michael Johnson on May 11, according to the former's announcement Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Johnson withdrew because of an undisclosed injury. As for Frevola, he is calling for a Manchester fight in July or a Paris bout in September, at least a month after he acclimates to fatherhood once his baby is born around June.

Gets new fight
Frevola is slated to take on Michael Johnson at a UFC event on May 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Frevola is looking to bounce back from a loss to Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 295 in November that snapped a three-fight winning streak. He now boasts a 5-4-1 record with the company. He will look to get back on track against Johnson, who just defeated Darrius Flowers at UFC Fight Night earlier in the month and holds a 14-15 record with the company.

Winning streak snapped at three
Frevola lost to Benoit Saint-Denis via KO (head kick) at 1:31 of Round 1 at UFC 295 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
Frevola entered having won three in a row, all via knockout, but one head kick from Saint-Denis was all it took to quickly end that streak. You can't even blame Matt for what happened. After some back-and-forth exchanges on the mat, Frevola got to his feet and was actually moving away from Saint-Denis at the time, but he got caught flush. Frevola's roster spot is more than secure given his recent strong run, but at age 33, his margin for error moving forward isn't all that great. This was a big fight for him that clearly didn't go his way.
