Williams defeated Carlston Harris via KO (punch) at 1:30 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.

We've seen highlight-reel knockouts from Williams in the past, and there's a case to be made this was his most impressive one to date. With the two men slinging wild bombs in the center of the Octagon, Khaos fired off a sweeping right hand that connected flush and put Harris away in an instant. It would go on to earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Williams was viewed as nothing more than roster depth upon joining the company in February 2020, but he's won six of his first eight UFC bouts, with four of the six coming via knockout. The only two defeats came against a pair of quality opponents in Michel Pereira and Randy Brown. Khaos is quickly making a push towards the top-10 at 170 pounds.

Williams found himself on the wrong end of a split decision setback to Randy Brown in his most recent fight about a year ago, so it has to feel good for him to emerge victorious here. Of course, Khaos wasn't a -400 favorite in the Brown fight like he was against Bedoya. Williams hits extremely hard and is exceedingly durable, but his fight IQ is questionable, at best, which is why he finds himself barely scrapping by in fights such as this one that he should have won going away. We've seen enough from Khaos over the course of his three-plus years in the company to know his style won't be changing in the future. As a result, the 29-year-old Michigan native could struggle to put together any sort of a prolonged winning streak.

Williams did score a knockdown in the latter stages of Round 3, but Brown was the far more technical man over the course of the final ten minutes, and Khaos appeared to be out of sorts. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, because Williams was always going to have difficulty winning fights if his power shots aren't landing. They did in the opening frame, but rarely the rest of the way. Khaos' 4-2 mark in his first half-dozen UFC bouts is quite solid, but he's going to struggle to defeat better competition at 170 pounds if he isn't able to diversify his offense a bit.
