Karolina Kowalkiewicz

Losing streak hits three
StrawweightUFC
October 11, 2025
Kowalkiewicz lost to Julia Polastri via TKO (strikes) at 2:56 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Set to turn 40 years old in four days, Kowalkiewicz was predictably dominated from start to finish as a +430 underdog. Karolina's stand-up defense was poor in her heyday, and it's flat out non-existent now. She doesn't move her head off the center line and never moves her feet. The end result was a 137-72 edge for Polastri in terms of significant strikes landed. Karolina displayed remarkable toughness lasting as long as she did. Kowalkiewicz has lost three in a row dating back to May 2024 and there simply isn't any upside to the UFC continuing to run her back out there.

Will return in October
StrawweightUFC
July 25, 2025
Kowalkiewicz will fight Julie Polastri at UFC Rio De Janeiro on October 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Kowalkiewicz will return to fight for the first time since November of 2024. She's facing a much more inexperienced fighter in Polastri who is hoping to make a name for herself with a statement win. Kowalkiewicz is looking to rebound after dropping =back-to-back fights. This comes after a run of four straight victories that began in 2022.
Drops decision in Vegas
StrawweightUFC
November 9, 2024
Kowalkiewicz lost to Denise Gomes via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Karolina managed to hang around and see the final bell as a +500 underdog, but ultimately wasn't able to generate enough offense to win. Kowalkiewicz attempted just one takedown, which is surprising given Gomes' past struggles in the grappling game. She had all sorts of issues with the upper-body strength of the Brazilian, being pinned against the fence for long stretches at a time. That alone torpedoed any chance she may have had of winning a decision. Now 39 years of age, Karolina miraculously won four in a row from June 2022 to October 2023, but has dropped back-to-back unanimous decision since. She will likely need a win her next time out in order to extend her time with the company.
Ready to face Gomes
StrawweightUFC
September 13, 2024
Kowalkiewicz will face Denise Gomes in a strawweight bout at UFC Vegas 100 on Nov. 9, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Kowalkiewicz is looking to bounce back after seeing her most recent fight ending in a defeat to Iasmin Lucindo at UFC 301 in May this year. Kowalkiewicz had won four in a row before that defeat, but given that she'll be 39 by the time of the fight, it remains to be seen if she has enough in the tank to face an opponent who's almost 15 years younger than her.
Winning streak snapped at four
StrawweightUFC
May 4, 2024
Kowalkiewicz lost to Iasmin Lucindo via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 301 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
16 years older than her opponent and unable to come remotely close to matching her in terms of speed and athleticism, Kowalkiewicz looked the part of a +325 underdog. She ate one huge shot in Round 1 that left her eye partially closed the remainder of the fight, and that was just the start of her issues. Karolina, who is as tough as they come, did a nice job of seeing the final bell considerably how physically outmatched she was. Kowalkiewicz entered having won four straight, but given the fact she's 38 years of age, her recent run always felt like the result of beating up on lower-end competition.
Scheduled to face Lucindo
StrawweightUFC
March 15, 2024
Kowalkiewicz will face Jasmin Lucindo in a strawweight bout at UFC 301 on May 4, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kowalkiewicz extended their winning streak to four following a victory over Diana Belbita via unanimous decision on October 2023, but the 38-year-old lacks power and is a below-average athlete at this point of her career. At least on paper, the veteran starts as an underdog in this matchup against Lucindo, especially considering the fight will be held in Brazil.
