It's the second straight upset victory for Erosa and the second that came via first-round guillotine choke. It took multiple mistakes from Ricardo Ramos in his last bout for it to happen, and the same goes for Rodriguez here. Erosa had no prayer of defeating his younger opponent in a technical fight, but Christian was willing to engage "Juicy J" in a back-and-forth brawl. It appeared as if Round 1 would end with Rodriguez in top position, at which point he left his neck exposed and Erosa grabbed hold.
