Quickly taps out heavy opponent
Bunes defeated Jose Johnson via submission (armbar) at 2:04 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It will almost certainly go down as the most lucrative evening of Bunes' pro career to date. Not only will he pick up his show and win bonuses, but he'll also walk out with 20 percent of Johnson's purse after the latter missed weight on Friday morning. Known for his high-level ground game, Bunes found an early armbar and never let the position go. Johnson tried his best to roll out of it, but Felipe expertly adjusted his body and eventually earned the submission. Bunes' lack of power severely limits his long-term ceiling, but it's nice to see he's capable of a performance such as this one.

Booked against Johnson
Bunes will fight Jose Johnson at UFC Vegas 101 on Jan. 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Bunes took a loss in his UFC debut at the hands of Joshua Van, but a matchup against Johnson, who holds a 1-2 record within the promotion and is also coming off a loss, could be the opportunity Bunes needs to secure his first win.

Fades following fast start
Bunes lost to Joshua Van via TKO (punches) at 4:31 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a tale of two fights for Bunes in his UFC debut. He looked exceedingly sharp in Round 1, seemingly landing at will on the feet, in addition to connecting on a takedown. Yet, it all fell apart at the start of the second frame. The Brazilian's gas tank appeared to disappear in an instant, and he was eventually battered to the point referee Mark Smith was forced to intervene. Already 34 years of age, Bunes has no margin for error moving forward.

Fighting new opponent
Bunes will face off against Joshua Van at UFC Vegas 84 on Jan. 17, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Bunes will fight a new opponent in his UFC debut after Denys Bondar withdrew due to undisclosed reasons. The 34-year-old will look to make a splash in his debut against Joshua Van, a 22-year-old fighter boasting a 2-0 record within the UFC.

Debuting against Bondar
Bunes (undisclosed) will fight Denys Bondar at UFC Vegas 83 on Jan. 13, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Bunes' debut was originally scheduled to make his UFC debut at UFC Vegas 75 in June, but an unknown issue forced him to pull out of the fight. Now, the 34-year-old will get a chance to ease his way into the UFC against an opponent who has dropped his first two fights within the promotion.
