Elver is out of his scheduled matchup against Tom Nolan at UFC Perth on Sept. 27 due to a leg injury, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear how long Elder might be sidelined, nor whether the UFC will delay this matchup or look to schedule a new opponent for Nolan. Elder had been looking to run his winning streak to four, but he would have been facing Nolan in enemy territory given the latter was born in Brisbane.

Elder will face Tom Nolan in a lightweight bout at UFC Perth on Sept. 27, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Elder and Nolan are both riding three-fight winning streaks heading into this matchup, so something has to give. In his last time in the Octagon, Elder bested Gauge Young via unanimous decision. Against Nolan, he surrenders five inches of height and two inches of reach.
Handles late-notice opponent

Elder defeated Gauge Young via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Facing a local, late-notice opponent making his UFC debut, Elder kept things simple, avoided making any big mistakes and cruised to the victory. He closed with a 115-81 edge in significant strikes landed. Young was just a hair off, hesitating and refusing to let his hands fully go. Evan took advantage. Elder's UFC run could have been over before it started. He lost each of his first two fights with the company, but the UFC granted him another chance and he has since responded with three straight wins. The good times will likely end when the competition level rises, but his roster spot should be plenty secure for a while now.

Elder will now face Gauge Young in a lightweight bout at UFC Kansas City on April 26, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Elder originally stepped in to face Ahmad Hassanzada after his perviously scheduled opponent backed out, but now it's Elder who will need to adapt and prepare for a new opponent. Fortunately for him, it'll be an opponent in Young who is making his UFC debut and just signed a contract in order to step in for this bout.

ANALYSIS
Elderdefeated Darrius Flowers via submission (arm-triangle choke) in Denver in July last year, and this will be his first bout of the season. Elder is trending in his right direction after winning his last two fights, but he owns a 2-2 record at the UFC level.
Earns win in Denver opener

Elder defeated Darrius Flowers via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 1:46 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Denver.
ANALYSIS
Facing an opponent with zero cardio and no means of damaging him offensively, Elder kept things simple and didn't take many chances. He didn't need to. He did give up a shockingly easy takedown to Flowers early in Round 2, but Elder easily worked his way back to his feet and submitted Flowers shortly thereafter. The quality of opponent Elder was facing must be taken into consideration here, but all you can do it fight who they put in front of you. The 27-year-old California native has won back-to-back fights after dropping his first two UFC bouts.
