Quickly taps to Tom Nolan
Campbell lost to Tom Nolan via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:08 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
The fact Campbell wasn't able to last a single round here is disappointing considering he landed his fair share of damaging blows early on. Yet, he gave up with ease, allowing Nolan to get him to the mat and clamp on the rear-naked choke in an instant. It was the first submission defeat of Campbell's career and the first submission win in Nolan's professional run. Not only did Charlie work his way to the UFC despite suffering a first-round knockout loss on Dana White's Contender Series back in 2022, but he's 2-1 with the company. That's not a bad run out for the New York native and Ray Longo product.

Steps up to face Nolan
Campbell will face Tom Nolan in a lightweight bout at UFC Perth on Sep. 27, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Nolan needed a new opponent after Evan Elder withdrew due to injury earlier this week, but Campbell has stepped up to keep the bout alive. Campbell might be the underdog here due to Nolan's ongoing three-win streak, but Campbell has won his first two bouts with the promotion. His most recent fight was a unanimous decision win over Trevor Peek on April 6, 2024. He was scheduled to face Mauricio Ruffy later that year but withdrew from the fight due to an undisclosed injury.

Out for UFC 309
Campbell is out for UFC 309, according to Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS
Unfortunately for Campbell, less than three weeks after it was announced he would fight Mauricio Ruffy at the UFC's annual Madison Square Garden event, the New York native will not fight there due to some form of problem. As for Duffy, his MSG bout chances are now in limbo.

Scrapping against Ruffy
Campbell is scheduled to compete against fellow lightweight Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 309 in New York City on Nov. 16, per Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS
Campbell, a New York native, will be able to fight in his home state in the UFC's annual event at Madison Square Garden. Campbell is fighting off a decision win over Trevor Peek, and Ruffy began his UFC career by defeating Jamie Mullarkey in under a round back in May.

Remains perfect in UFC
Campbell defeated Trevor Peek via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
If you're fighting Peek, you better bring your work boots and show up ready to go. To Campbell's credit, he did. Charlie did just fine in the striking exchanges between the two men and managed to pull ahead for good behind four successful takedowns for 5:41 worth of control time. In some ways this was a more impressive performance from Campbell than his first-round knockout win over Alex Reyes in his UFC debut last September simply because he had to show and use more of his skill set to emerge victorious here.

Scheduled against Peek
Campbell is scheduled to compete against Trevor Peek in a lightweight fight at UFC Vegas 90 on April 6, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Campbell easily earned another UFC fight following his first-round TKO win over Alex Reyes on Sept. 16. But unlike Reyes, Peek has fought several times since 2017, thrice in 2023. While Peek won two of his three fights that year, he also lost once, which should be at least slightly more encouraging to Campbell's chances of logging his second consecutive win.
