Misses weight for scheduled fight
Battle missed the UFC's middleweight limit for his fight with Nurlston Ruziboev at UFC 319 on Saturday, according to Jose Youngs of MMA Fighting.
ANALYSIS
For missing the UFC's middleweight limit, Battle will lose 30 percent of his purse. Even though he moved up to middleweight because of a welterweight miss back in December, the increased weight class has not prevented him from getting another purse fine. The December fight saw Battle log a split-decision win over Randy Brown.

Split decision win in Vegas
Battle defeated Randy Brown via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 310 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Battle got the win, but much of the good work he did inside the Octagon was completely negated by the fact he missed weight by four pounds Friday morning. Battle was dominated in Round 1. It wouldn't be surprising to hear he purposely started slow in hopes of saving his energy. If that was indeed the case, it worked. Barely. Battle simply pressured Brown in both Rounds 2 and 3. He pinned him to the cage for long stretches at a time and mixed in a few big knees here and there. Two of the three judges felt it was enough. Battle is now 8-1 (1NC) in his first 10 UFC bouts. The next challenge for "The Butcher" is beating the scale.

ANALYSIS
Barely multiple weeks since his TKO win over Kevin Jousset, Battle wasted no time landing another fight. He bounced back from a no-contest against Ange Loosa by defeating Kevin Jousset in his home country of France.
