He had just 24 points in 72 regular-season outings a year ago, but he clearly showed something that earned him a one-year contract in July. The 26-year-old forward's uptick in scoring is a positive sign, but it's still unlikely to lead to anything more than a brief call-up to the Panthers this season if injuries pile up for the NHL roster.

Skoog and the Panthers are finalizing a one-year, two-way contract Wednesday, Freelance reporter Irfaan Gaffar reports.
ANALYSIS
Skoog is a restricted free agent, so he was unlikely to end up anywhere else this offseason. Undrafted coming out of Boston University, the 25-year-old forward has played exclusively with AHL Charlotte the past two seasons, including the 2024-25 campaign in which he generated 24 points in 72 regular-season tilts. If he can continue to produce decent numbers at the minor-league level, Skoog could make his NHL debut at some point this year when an injury pops up for the Panthers.
