Dealt for future considerations
Minnesota acquired Tarasenko from Detroit on Monday in exchange for future considerations.
ANALYSIS
Tarasenko has one more season left on his two-year, $9.5 million contract. He accounted for 11 goals, 33 points, 133 shots on net and 63 hits across 80 regular-season outings with Detroit in 2024-25. As a member of the Wild, he could move up and down the lineup, but a bottom-six start probably makes the most sense.

A deadline-day trade saw Tarasenko dealt to the Panthers. He appeared in 19 regular-season contests for the club in which he notched 14 points before adding five goals and four assists in 24 postseason contests on his way to a Stanley Cup title. Fresh off his postseason success, the veteran winger opted to sign a two-year, $9.5 million deal with the Red Wings. With his new team, the high-end puckhandler may have to settle for a third-line role unless the coaching staff decides to move him over to the left wing. Still, as the top scoring threat on his own line, Tarasenko could challenge for the 30-goal threshold for the first time since 2021-22 when he was with the Blues.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Offered contract by Pens
Tarasenko was given a contract offer by Pittsburgh but continues to mull his options, including a return to the Panthers, Josh Yohe of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
For the third straight year, Tarasenko reached the 50-point threshold last season, racking up 23 goals and 32 helpers in 76 regular-season contests for the Senators and Panthers. Now a two-time Stanley Cup champion, the veteran winger will no doubt be hoping to get some term after playing the 2023-24 campaign on a one-year deal. Still, if Tarasenko truly wants to remain in Florida, he likely is going to need to take a pay cut, whereas other teams may be able to offer bigger deals.
