2025 Fantasy Outlook
Desharnais suited up for three teams in 2024-25, logging 51 games between the Canucks, Penguins and Sharks. He produced just three assists, all coming with the Canucks, as well as 87 hits and 83 blocked shots. His stock has fallen pretty dramatically after he broke through with 11 points, 134 hits and 122 blocked shots over 78 regular-season games in 2023-24 with the Oilers. He's with the Sharks for 2025-26, but after the team added John Klingberg, Nick Leddy and Dmitry Orlov over the summer, it's fair to wonder if Desharnais will be a regular in San Jose's lineup, and that's before any prospect promotions are considered. Scores in return
Desharnais scored a goal on two shots, added six PIM, doled out six hits and went plus-2 in Monday's 4-1 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Desharnais had missed the previous 23 games due to an upper-body injury. The 29-year-old defenseman will likely compete with Vincent Iorio for third-pairing minutes moving forward, as Nick Leddy was waived to clear a spot for Desharnais to return. Through 21 outings, Desharnais has three points, 14 shots on net, 34 hits, 35 blocked shots and 38 PIM, so he has fairly limited appeal unless his offense takes off.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Desharnais was a full-time player for the Oilers last season, appearing in 78 of 82 regular-season games before being scratched for nine of Edmonton's final 10 postseason appearances. He offered nothing offensively, managing just a single goal and 11 points. Desharnais did post 134 hits and 122 blocks but even those numbers aren't significant enough to give him value in such formats. Desharnais inked a two-year, $4 million contract with the rival Canucks in free agency and he will go about attempting to win a bottom-pairing role with his new club.

ANALYSIS
Desharnais has been on the shelf since Nov. 26 versus the Avalanche, a stretch of 17 games on injured reserve. The blueliner has generated just two points in 20 outings this year, so fantasy managers probably shouldn't be expecting him to produce offensively once he's given the green light to play.
