2025 Fantasy Outlook
Two seasons ago, Sanheim set career highs in goals (10), assists (34) and points (44), but his production dropped to eight goals and 30 points over 82 appearances in 2024-25. The 6-foot-4 defenseman set a new high-water mark in blocked shots (170) while receiving 24:30 of ice time last season, so while he’s an integral part of Philadelphia’s back end on the first pairing, that role doesn’t translate to high-end offensive production. The 29-year-old also doesn’t see much time with the man advantage, which ultimately caps his fantasy value. Sanheim should continue to rack up blocked shots in addition to being a useful source of shots on goal in 2025-26, as his durability (four games missed over the last four years) translates to high volume in those areas, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the two-way blueliner’s point total fall somewhere between his output of the last two seasons. The defender's best season came two years ago, when he put up 44 points, including 10 goals, 48 PIM, five PPP and 146 shots. Sanheim does most of his damage at even strength, although he does have a goal and one helper while shorthanded (one goal, two assists). He has 87 blocks, and that may help in formats that count secondary categories.

It was a fantastic 2023-24 campaign for Sanheim, as he set new career highs in goals (10), assists (34) and shots on net (146). The 28-year-old blueliner also logged a personal best 23:48 of ice time per game, including 1:32 with the man advantage. Perhaps most importantly, the talented defenseman has missed just four regular-season games over the last three seasons. Whether he can maintain his career-best offensive numbers remains to be seen, but at a minimum, Sanheim should be capable of getting over the 30-point threshold while securing opportunities with the No. 2 power-play unit. As such, look for Sanheim to offer decent fantasy value that is bolstered by his durability.
