2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sometimes, less is more, and that appeared to be the case with Chabot in 2024-25. He took a backseat to Jake Sanderson, but Chabot ended up playing in a career-high 80 games and logged the second-best point total of his career with 45, including eight on the power play. Counting on good health is asking a lot for Chabot, but his rise on offense could be sustained by the Senators' return to being a playoff-caliber team. The 28-year-old defenseman won't get premium minutes on offense anymore as Sanderson continues to grow, but Chabot has proven himself capable of being a 40-point defenseman over a full 82-game season. He should also add plenty of blocked shots, and the Senators' improvements should keep him positive in plus-minus rating as well. Read Past Outlooks
Nabs helper in return
Chabot recorded an assist with two shots on net, a blocked shot and a minus-1 rating in Saturday's 6-4 win over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Returning to the lineup after a 12-game absence due to an upper-body injury, Chabot immediately slotted back in on Ottawa's top pairing with Jake Sanderson and handled duties on the point of the second power-play unit. Chabot has only been healthy enough to play 19 games so far in 2025-26, but the 28-year-old defenseman has been productive when available with two goals and 11 points, along with 37 blocked shots, 24 shots on net and a plus-4 rating.

Chabot is a great defenseman who has dealt with far more than his share of injuries. He had nine goals and 30 points across 51 contests last season. The 27-year-old has now reached the 30-point milestone in each of his past six campaigns, which is an impressive feat considering he's never played in more than 71 games in a single campaign and has appeared in fewer than 60 outings in two of his past three seasons. Under ideal circumstances, Chabot would be a strong candidate for 50 points in 2024-25, but it's unfortunately very unlikely that he'll enjoy that level of health. Instead, it's better to pencil him in for 30-40 points while taking him before other blueliners in that range due to his upside.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Likely to return this weekend
Chabot, who is dealing with an upper-body injury, will likely return to game action this weekend, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Chabot has appeared in just one game since Nov. 13, but it appears as though his lengthy absence is close to coming to an end. The Senators have a back-to-back set over the weekend that includes a home game against the Blackhawks on Saturday and a road game in Boston on Sunday, and it's possible that he'll rest in one of those matchups in order to ease him into action.
