2025 Fantasy Outlook
Durzi was fast emerging as a great defenseman with 27, 38 and 41 points across his first three regular seasons, but a shoulder injury cost him most of 2024-25, resulting in him finishing with four goals, 11 points, 19 PIM, 39 shots, 15 hits and 52 blocks across 30 appearances with Utah. Don't let that setback allow Durzi to slip from your mind. As long as he stays healthy, the 26-year-old (27 on Oct. 21) is a great bounce-back candidate. He might fail to return to the 40-point mark because the presence of Mikhail Sergachev will probably limit Durzi to duties on the second power-play unit, but the Ontario-born blueliner should still record at least 30 points, 50 PIM and 150 blocks. Durzi signed a four-year, $6 million AAV extension with Utah in June of 2024.

2024

2022
Acquired from the Kings during the summer of 2023 in exchange for a 2024 second-round selection, Durzi has already proven to be a great addition for Utah. He had nine goals, 41 points, 63 PIM, 160 blocks and 44 hits in 76 contests while averaging 22:43 of ice time in 2023-24 with what was then the Arizona Coyotes. Durzi has seen his offensive production climb in each of his first three NHL campaigns, but he's now 25 years old and only had a nominal increase between the past two seasons -- he recorded nine goals and 38 points in 72 outings in 2022-23 -- so it would be overly optimistic to expect further growth. Instead, you should pencil him in for another 35-45 points this campaign. He should also help in leagues that value PIM and blocks with 50-70 and 140-175, respectively.
Durzi was traded to Arizona during the offseason following a strong showing with Los Angeles in 2022-23. He accounted for nine goals, 38 points, 110 shots on net, 142 blocked shots and 68 hits over 72 games. As a member of the Coyotes, Durzi could see top-four minutes as well as action on the first power-play unit. He could flirt with the 40-point plateau in 2023-24, which gives him some sleeper potential going into the year. One knock is his minus-21 rating over his first two NHL seasons, a mark unlikely to get much better on a young Arizona team that's still a year or two away from being competitive.
Durzi made his debut in late November for the Kings and played in all 64 games the rest of the way, plus Los Angeles' seven playoff contests. Durzi posted three goals and 27 points, including a whopping 15 points with the man advantage. The numbers look great considering Durzi played nearly the entire season at age 23, but his enhanced playing time -- particularly on the power play -- was the result of an injury to Drew Doughty. Durzi showed enough in his rookie campaign to carve out a significant role for the Kings in 2022-23, but don't expect a significant jump in production unless Doughty unexpectedly misses time again.
