2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lafferty spent parts of two seasons with the Blackhawks from 2021-23, and after stints with three other teams, he is back with Chicago for the 2025-26 season. The 30-year-old is coming off a tough season with the Sabres, notching just four goals and three assists with a minus-15 rating in 60 games. He didn’t get much ice time when he played, averaging 9:53 per contest. The role he’ll play with Chicago figures to be similar, assuming he cracks the lineup on an everyday basis. The six-year veteran is no longer an offensive threat, so whether or not he has any fantasy value will be strictly determined by whether his physicality ticks up from 2024-25 -- he had just 89 hits last year, compared to 192 in 2023-24. Healthy scratch Saturday
Lafferty (illness) will be a healthy scratch Saturday against the Bruins, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Lafferty missed Thursday's 3-1 loss to Calgary due to a flu bug that has been making its way through the Chicago dressing room, but he was back on the ice for Saturday's morning skate. He has one goal and one assist in 17 appearances this season.

Lafferty netted a career-high 13 goals and supplied 24 points in 79 games with Vancouver last season. Most of his production came during a 20-game span from Oct. 31-Dec. 9 when he notched seven tallies and six helpers. Lafferty took advantage of his time in the top six for the Canucks before dropping into a bottom-six role on the depth chart. He signed a two-year, $4 million contract with Buffalo in free agency. Lafferty set a new personal best in 2023-24 with 191 hits, marking a third consecutive campaign with at least 125 bodychecks. He utilizes his speed to pressure opponents and kill penalties but doesn't move the needle much from a fantasy perspective.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Rights on the move?
Lafferty's negotiating rights are expected to be traded to the Blackhawks this week, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
The Canucks' main motivation for the deal is to dump Ilya Mikheyev's salary. Lafferty was previously reported to be expected to test free agency, and it's unclear if he'd be willing to sign with Chicago -- a team he played for over parts of two seasons. The 29-year-old had 24 points in 79 contests in 2023-24 as a bottom-six forward.
