Signs with Swiss club
Kupari agreed to terms on a two-year contract with HC Lugano on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Kupari is scheduled to be a restricted free agent this offseason, so the Jets will need to give him a qualifying offer in order to retain his NHL rights. While this certainly doesn't close the door on a potential return, the 25-year-old center will need to impress while in Switzerland to put himself back on the NHL radar.

After spending most of the previous two seasons with the Kings, Kupari was dealt from LA to Winnipeg as part of the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade in June of 2023. Kupari really struggled with the Jets, picking up a solitary assist in 28 regular-season games as he was out of action for 26 games early in the season with a shoulder injury and was a healthy scratch for 28 games from Feb. 6 until the end of the regular season. Kupari will have to bounce back to claim a spot as a bottom-six forward and if he is unable to do so, he is likely to be a healthy scratch on numerous occasions in 2024-25.
