Suter stepped up for a Canucks team that dealt with several absences down the stretch. JT Miller was traded mid-season, and Elias Pettersson was out of the lineup for 18 games with injury, so Suter posted a career season, scoring 25 goals and 21 assists. From March 1 on, he put up 19 points in 23 games, a 68-point pace over a full 82-game slate. However, Suter will likely not get the ice time in the advantageous situations he played in down the stretch come next season. Pettersson will be back and fill the role as the team’s top center, which will knock Suter down a bit. Additionally, Suter scored on 18.1 percent of his shots on goal, a mark well above his career average. Vancouver’s forwards also lack high-end skill, which adds up to a player who might be due for regression in 2025-26. Two points against former team
Suter scored a power-play goal on three shots and added an assist in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Canucks.
				  ANALYSIS
While the Blues didn't win, Suter had a productive outing against his former team. The 29-year-old had a career-high 46 points in 81 appearances with the Canucks last year before cashing in as a free agent in St. Louis. Through 11 contests to begin 2025-26, Suter has four goals, three helpers, 19 shots on net, 10 hits and six blocked shots while filling a middle-six role. He's earned three of his points over the last two games.

Entering his age-28 campaign and with four years of NHL experience, Suter is a known commodity in the NHL. He's a defensively steady middle-six forward who can play center or wing, and he's usually good for 25-35 points over a full campaign. He had 29 points in 67 contests in his first year with the Canucks, typically on the second or third line. The offseason additions of Danton Heinen and Jake DeBrusk will likely limit Suter's ability to move up the lineup, so pencil the Swiss-born forward in for roughly 30 points with only modest contributions in the non-scoring categories.

				  NHL teams circling
Suter will have plenty of options if he doesn't re-sign with Vancouver before the free-agency window opens, Darren Dreger of TSN reports Tuesday.
				  ANALYSIS
Suter is coming off a career year in which he set new personal bests with 25 goals and 21 helpers while logging a career-high 17:21 of ice time per game. While the 29-year-old forward hasn't closed the door on a return to Vancouver, his price is likely going up considering all the interested teams that want to sign him.
